It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of André Alderic Germain Gariépy. Born in Montreal, Quebec, André passed away on February 16th at age 87. By God’s grace we were blessed to hold hands one final time before he left this world.
Loving son of his late father Ephraim Gariépy of Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, Québec and his late mother Ernestine Leclerc of Saint-Calixte, QC. He was predeceased by his two sisters Elizabeth & Henriette Gariépy and by his brother Ephraim Henri Gariépy. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Patricia Burns of 56 years, children Lynn (Donato Cerone), Keith (Helanie De Brito), granddaughter Emily; and many friends.
Career highlights include a photographer at Journal de Montréal in the 1960s and freelance cameraman at CBC Radio Canada for over twenty years. This role brought André much joy as he was passion about his profession and enjoyed the thrill of the deadline. The career also offered varied work assignments including international travel along with local news stories.
Viewing will take place in the funeral home at 16h00 until 20h00 (8005 Notre-Dame East). Interment of ashes will be held at later date at Le Repos Saint-François d’Assise cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, kindly donate in André’s memory to the charity of your choice.
André would have done anything for anyone.
